Swimmer 1 Swimming Lessons
Our Swimming Program is designed to foster children’s comfort level with water, while providing skills to help them feel confident with their ability to swim. Finn will be taking the swimmers to the back lake to achieve their certificate in the Swimmer 1 Swimming Program.
These beginners will become comfortable jumping into chest deep water without a PFD and deeper water with a PFD. By the end of the program they will have gained the ability and endurance to tread water for 30 seconds wearing a PFD. They’ll learn to open their eyes, exhale and hold their breath underwater. They’ll work on floats, glides and kicking through the water on their front and back, while gaining the skill to front crawl for 5m while wearing a PFD.

Camp Activities
What The Day Will Look Like...
A time where the team can see each other and will have the opportunity to share aspects of their lives; everyone gets time to be heard. We will also break down the day so that the group knows what to expect and can ask any questions that they have.
This will be followed by a team building activity to foster effective communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills.
Participants are asked to bring enough food and water so that they are able to feel energized throughout the day. We ask that lunches are litter free, nut free, healthy and have a low sugar content.
Participants must attend all 9 weeks of our program in order to achieve their certificate.
There will also be an opportunity to grab some water and have a snack at this time.
A safe Environment for Children to Connect
Bringing Community to our little ones….
Community isn’t just for adults. We strive to create a space for all members of your family!
We know from experience how vital it is for children to have the chance to connect with others and have the opportunity to learn, grow and develop social skills.
These connection opportunities are something we see lacking for our own children and something we want to nurture more in not only them but in other children as well.
In the past year we have made some significant changes to our lives, between selling our house in Ontario, leaving our careers (10+ years), deciding to unschool our daughters, learning how to adapt to a new environment, simplifying, and fully trusting and embracing in our worth and the vision we are manifesting.
This day camp is a place to not only allow your children to explore and learn but also a place for them to start fostering a sense of belonging, creating friendships and new confidence.

We do not offer refunds for this program.
There will be 1 staff for every 5 campers. However, while Chelsey will be instructing the campers, Finn will be an extra set of eyes throughout the activities.
No. The staff to camper ratio doesn’t change during swim lessons; however, Chelsey will be a second pair of eyes on land while Finn is instructing the swimming lessons.
If parents are not able to pick up their children during the pick up time we ask that you find other arrangements and text us throughout the day with your plan.
Finn and Chelsey are firm believers that all behaviour is communication and are confident in the wisdom we have to manage any way a child expresses themselves.
We believe in giving children space to feel, and time to process their emotions, while making them aware that we are there when they are ready and willing for guidance.
Through modelling and effective communication we allow children to have a voice in their healing process and foster their ability to reflect on their experience so they develop wisdom and awareness for their next opportunity of growth and evolution.
We do have an option for non swimmers in the 9 week camp however this will only be available once we have our 5 swimmers registered to ensure there is still a 1-5 ratio of staff to watch non swimmers during water activities.
The daily drop in rate does stay the same regardless of your child’s activity choice.
If you are interested in opting out of the water activity option please contact us as soon as possible to see if we have space.
If there is bad weather the swimming portion of the camp will be cancelled and rescheduled.
The camp portion of the day will consist of a variety of activities (that may vary based on mood and/or weather) and will be moved inside if needed.
We want as many attentive eyes on the kids in the water as possible so while Finn is instructing in the water Chelsey will be monitoring from land acting as a second set of eyes.
There will be times Finn will take 1-2 swimmers in the water for direct instruction, while the others wait with Chelsey on land for their turn. When all swimmers are in the water with Finn, they will be wearing PFD’s.
We will also be utilizing the buddy system, so if and when Finn blows his whistle it signals campers to pair up with a pre-designated swim buddy.
We will not be asking for any personal information in this regard.
When children are feeling their emotions, we allow them to choose what they need to help them process their experience. We are happy to provide options that they can choose from if they need support in doing so. Space, time, high fives, hugs, water, snacks, and/or a friend’s company are some of our offerings.
A light, healthy snack will be offered in the morning.
However, participants are asked to bring enough food and water so that they are able to feel energized throughout the day.
We ask that lunches are litter free and have a low sugar content.
Participants are also asked to bring their water bottle.
Please ensure there are no nuts in your child’s pack.
As well we ask that lunches have nutritious, high protein content, with low sugar to help support our participants bodies so they are energized and aligned throughout the entire day.
Participants are asked to come prepared for the weather as we will be outside most if not all the time (i.e., backpack, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, polyester layers, bug spray, running shoes, extra socks, rain gear, etc.)
Swimmers are asked to wear their bathing suits under their outfit with a change of clothes to change into, a pair of water shoes for the back lake, and a dry towel.
PFD’s, all floating devices will be provided by the camp.
We will be taking on a max of 5 campers for our 9 week program with drop ins being accepted on a limited basis.

Chelsey has worked with children for over 12 years as an elementary school teacher for the Hamilton School Board and has a variety of children as private clients to foster their ability in facing their fears and releasing old beliefs that no longer serve them.
Finn has spent the last 15 years acquiring three tickets in the skilled trades. It wasn’t until this current next chapter of his journey that he has been able to tap into his love of the outdoors, revitalising old skills, such as life saving, to create opportunities for his children and the community.
Finn is credentialed in Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, Lifeguarding and the Swimming Instructor course for teaching swimming lessons. Finn has his Standard First Aid and CPR.
